From Deaf to Hearing in One Adjustment

My Deaf to Hearing Story

Literally within minutes I could hear out of my right (deaf) ear again! - Steve Richards

A week or so ago, I woke up in the night and I couldn’t hear out of my right ear at all.  Since I have limited hearing in my left ear, with the right one deaf, I could barely hear anything.  And I could not tell what direction sounds were coming from! I went to the hospital and I was examined by an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist and given a comprehensive hearing test. The Hearing specialist doctor then told me that the hearing loss in my right ear was from my inner ear. The diagnosis he gave me was “Sudden Onset Hearing Loss”. He told me he did not know what was causing the deafness. But he listed a lot of severe and scary possibilities. And the prognosis for me was equally frightening: my hearing might or might not return. He told me often it did not!

The only treatment he could provide to me was for a prescription of cortisone steroids taken 3 times per day for a couple weeks.  And if that didn’t do it, he’d give me more of the same!  All in the guess or hope that if the condition was caused by an inflammatory process this treatment “might” help.  This was spooky because I need my hearing for my work.  Very frightening to me indeed.

I started taking the steroids for 3 days with no improvement.

Then I went to see my chiropractor Dr. Arlo Gordin.  I told him my problem, the tests they’d done and what the doctor had prescribed.  He was pretty horrified by the shot-in-the-dark treatment with the cortisone.

He carefully adjusted the misplaced vertebrae in my neck, my inner ear and my ear itself with some unusual technique and also adjusted my cranial bones.  He then rubbed his index finger against his thumb gently near my deaf right ear and asked if I could hear it. I could!!!

Literally within minutes I could hear out of my right (deaf) ear again!  After a second adjustment I’m back to near exactly where I was before that ear went deaf.

Big, Big, Big Relief!  Thank you Arlo!
